Marvin R. Zeidler, 87, of Apple Valley, formerly of Annandale and Perham, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at the Augustana Health Care Center in Apple Valley. Funeral services were to be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Thomas Queck officiating and visitation after 10 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post #7644. He is survived by his wife, Gladys of Apple Valley; children, Joan (Peter) Bliss of Prior Lake, Karen (Dennis) Kvarfordt of Pocatello, Idaho, Karla (James) Arrington of Wasilla, Alaska; brother, Norman of Annandale; six grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Preceded in death by his son Barry, sister Edna Janusch and brother Alvin. Marvin R. Zeidler was born May 8, 1921, in Albion Township to William and Adela (Uecker) Zeidler. He attended Albion Country School and graduated in 1939 from Annandale High School. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. While aboard his Navy ship, Churchill, Stalin, and President Roosevelt met for the Yalta Conference. Marvin married Gladys Jahnke on May 16, 1959, in Minneapolis. Together they farmed in Annandale and became members of Zion Lutheran Church. Later, farming took them to Perham where he served as elder and treasurer at St. John’s Corliss Lutheran Church. Marvin also served for 10 years as Corliss Township Clerk in Ottertail County. He was a devoted Christian and family man. He had a good sense of humor, loved ice fishing, hunting, farming, a good ball game and especially loved teasing his grandkids.
