David John Linn

David John Linn, age 89, of Albertville, Minn., former Annandale resident, passed away peacefully July 10, 2026, at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center.

David proudly served his country in the United States Army, spent 39 years as a truck driver for Scherer Brothers Lumber Company and was a longtime member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Church of St. Albert.

He loved hunting, fishing, cheering on the Vikings, Twins and Gophers, and spending time with his family, especially the annual Christmas Sausage Run and family card and dice games.

He will be remembered most for his warm smile, love of singing and gift for conversation.

David is survived by his beloved wife of almost 70 years, Janet (“Babe” Hokkanen), his children, Ron Linn of Pequot Lakes, Jodie Hildestad of Princeton, Amy (Greg) Peterson of Annandale, and Don (Holly) Linn of Annandale; his grandchildren, Dana and Aaron Linn, Gwen Meckle, Ryan Peterson, and Chris and Colby Linn; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Kali, Liana, Ava, Darren, Brooke, Ellie, Grace, Ronin, Arlo, Halle, Maisey and Lacey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Linn; stepfather, Otto Schneider; brothers, Gordy and Albert “Obbie” Linn, Andy Schneider, and his sister, Mary Ann Judge.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers who provided David with exceptional care and comfort, including the staff of Guardian Angels Engel Haus, Triniti Hospice, Comfort Keepers, and the dedicated team of Unit 49-1 at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. Their kindness, respect, and support meant more to David and our family than words can express.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. following a Visitation at 10 a.m., on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the Church of St. Albert, 11400 57th St NE, Albertville, MN.
