Kevin Roy Gunnerson was born on June 30, 1954, to Marvin and Vivian (Schmidt) Gunnerson in St. Cloud. Kevin grew up in the Annandale and South Haven area, where he lived his entire life. He attended and graduated from Kimball Area High School. On Nov. 2, 1973, he was united in marriage to Nancy Walkley at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Kimball. Together, they made their home in rural South Haven, along with their children. For 34 years, Kevin worked as a heavy equipment operator for C.S. McCrossan, retiring on July 1, 2015.
Throughout his life, Kevin embraced the simple joys that life offered. Often found in the comfort of his home, he had a special fondness for watching Westerns. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and the camaraderie shared among family. His visits to Swappers Meet were more than just hunting for treasures; they were a chance for Kevin to visit with friends.
Kevin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy of South Haven; children, Scott (Alissa) Gunnerson of Kimball and Kelly (Eric) Cantin of Becker; grandchildren, Ross, Brock, Luke, Allie, and Owen Gunnerson, and Peyton and Ethyn Cantin; siblings, Greg (Audrey Purcell), Sherry (Terry) Duncan, Carl (Coralee), Mona (Wayne) Weisman, Joe (Annette), and Todd (Nancy); and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian Vadner and Marvin “Duce” Gunnerson, and infant son, Jesse.
Kevin’s grandsons will serve as urn bearers. Lynn Hoff will provide music for the service.
