He was baptized in the presence of his parents and godparents, Ralph and Ella Johnson, and also confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale. Donald was united in marriage to Sharon “Sherry” Olean on Sept. 26, 1963, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. Don and Sherry lived in Hutchinson for a brief period of time, before moving to the Olean family farm. Don worked for General Mills for 19 years working overnights in addition to farming during the day. A hard worker all of his life, Don eventually farmed fulltime along with his wife, Sherry, and son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Barb. In his younger years, Don enjoyed racing snowmobiles, hunting, and water skiing. In his later years, when Don wasn’t farming, he liked to spend time in his shop tinkering on equipment or spending time on his excavator. Don enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities and events. Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Donald is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon “Sherry”; son, Mark (Barb) Olean of Annandale; daughters, Melissa (Adam) Perry of Annandale and Melanie (Jared) Frederick of Woodbury; sister, Cheri (Howie) Walberg of Annandale; grandchildren, Trevor (Mike) Kulzer-Olean, Tanner (Emeral) Olean, Carter and Hudson Perry, and Asher, Braxton, and Caelyn Frederick; great-grandson, Porter Olean; and three godchildren, nieces, nephews, other dear family members, and friends.
