James R. Nolan, age 58, of Annandale, died surrounded by family on Friday, August 26, 2022 at the St. Cloud Hospital as a result of heart failure and stage four colon cancer. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 at Heartland Evangelical Free Church in Annandale with Pastor Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Albion Free Cemetery, Cokato. Visitation was held 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale and will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. James Roy Nolan was born Dec. 27, 1963 at the St. Cloud Hospital to Allen and Phyllis “Arlene” (Raisanen) Nolan. He grew up in rural Cokato, graduating with the Class of 1982 from Cokato High School. On Sept. 24, 1983, he was united in marriage to Pam Carlson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale. They made their home in French Lake Township. James worked seal coating, snow plowing, and farming. He enjoyed plowing snow, farming, and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years, Pam; son, Brian of Annandale; grandson, Noah; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marlys and Dan Carlson; two brothers and one sister; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vicky (Jerry) Katka and Mike (Kari) Carlson; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother; and sister, Susie Barfknecht. The casket bearers will be John Magnuson, Bruce Hanson, Skip Nolan, Wade Hoffman, Ron Raisanen, Dan Nolan, Milo Alama, Jr., and Greg Goltz. The honorary bearers will be Noah Tyson, Lester Alama, Carol Symalla, Larry Hoffman, Mike Carlson, and Milo Alama, Sr. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial Cremation Services of Annandale.
