Thomas Francis Starkey, 71, of Breezy Point passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, at home with family after a long 4-year battle with lung cancer that spread to his brain. He was surrounded by his family and many friends throughout his fight. Thomas was born at the St. Cloud Hospital on March 8, 1948, to Emery and Hildegarde Starkey of Annandale, Minnesota. He was raised in Annandale his whole life which led to him meeting his wife of 48 years, Sandra (Jorgensen). They were married on Jan. 22, 1971, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis. They raised three children (David Joseph 48, Michael Patrick 41, Melissa Anne 39) together and were blessed with two grandchildren (Kaitlin Ann 20, Cole Anthony 17). Thomas was a very loving husband, father and grandfather as well as a loyal friend. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, trap shooting and was very active with the Annandale Conservation Club. He cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren, or as he liked to call them, his babies. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sandra; son, David (Paula); son, Michael; daughter, Melissa; sister, Deloris brother, James; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; and his sister, Lois. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Private family burial will be at Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery, Little Falls. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes.
