A good bet

For the record, I’ve never been much of a gambler. My gambling experience consists of 10 or less trips to Minnesota casinos with $50 or less in my pocket. When it was gone, which was usually fairly quickly, I was done. When I was lucky enough to break even or even leave with a little extra, then it was time to splurge on a nice dinner. There also was a time in Mesquite, Nev. (about 70 miles north of Las Vegas) on a golf trip with family that my stepfather – who knew what he was doing – found a hot craps table. I placed a few chips where he told me, kept my mouth shut and walked away with more than enough money to cover the next day’s golf round of $240 at a spectacular venue called Wolf Creek. There, in two paragraphs, is the extent of my gambling “career.” And no, I don’t count playing for a few bucks with my buddies on the golf course gambling. I call that fun. That said, I’m pro-gambling when it comes to making more money for the state. Quite simply, there is just too much money to be lost to not have some type of expansion.
