Darla Soholt, 50, of Annandale, formerly of Detroit Lakes died on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the St. Cloud Hospital after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church near Detroit Lakes with visitation one hour prior to the service. A second memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Annandale Evangelical Free Church in Annandale. Burial will follow services on June 2 at Lakeview Cemetery, Maple Lake.
Darla is survived by her husband, Brian of Annandale; daughter, Jessica (Jeff) Westrud of Rockford; son, Brandon Oliver, Jr. of Hamptonville, North Carolina; mother, Ginger Carlstrom of Maple Lake; father, Kenny Kiehl of Detroit Lakes; stepsons, Ronald (Jessi) Soholt of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and Justin Soholt of Lake Mills, Wisconsin; sisters, Tammie (Marty) Jenson of Detroit Lakes and Stacie Folstrom of Wauben; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive father, Charles Carlstrom; brother, Donnie Carlstrom; and grandparents, Esther and Herman Carlstrom, Ginger "Clarissa" and Raymond Ballard, and Mary and Arthur Kiehl.
Darla Kay Soholt was born in Detroit Lakes on Aug. 18, 1967, to Kenny Kiehl and Ginger Ballard. Her mother married Charles Carlstom and he adopted Darla when she was five. Darla grew up in Audubon and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School with the Class of 1985. She later earned an associates degree from Detroit Lakes Technical College. Darla worked at Minnesota Relay Services in Moorhead and in collections at Fingerhut in St. Cloud and ACF in St. Cloud. She also sold Mary Kay products and essential oils. Darla was married to Brian Soholt on March 3, 2017, in Buffalo. She attended Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church in Detroit Lakes all of her life. Darla enjoyed riding horseback, crocheting, sewing, cooking, gardening, shopping and photography.
