Died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018
Joyce F. Martin, 89, of Annandale, formerly of Hamel died Thursday Feb. 8, 2018, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 15, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Burial will take place at 10:05 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Howard) Veldhuizen of Milaca and Gail (David) Berndt of Anoka; grandchildren, Dennis, Jr. (Angie) Hill, Jason Hill, Scott Berndt (Tanya Coelho) and Stacy Berndt; and great-grandchildren, Dylan, Alex, Mira and Xander.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Martin; and parents, Harold and Bernice Turk.
Joyce was born in Minneapolis to Harold and Bernice (Miller) Turk on Oct. 30, 1928. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from North High School. Joyce was united in marriage to Charles A. Martin on Aug. 23, 1947, in Wisconsin and he preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 2000. They owned and operated Martin Sporting Goods in Hamel for over 18 years, retiring in 1978. Joyce was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale, The Order of the Eastern Star Vesta Chapter 128 and the Maple Lake V.F.W. Post 7664 Auxiliary. She enjoyed her Bible study, gardening, watching Wheel of Fortune and Dancing with the Stars and doing large puzzles.
