Erla Jean E. Kyllonen, 72
Died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017

Erla Jean Emily Kyllonen, 72, of Chaska, formerly of Annandale, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, peacefully at her home.

A Celebration of Life gathering was planned for Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, with a service at 12:30 p.m., at the Oak Ridge Conference Center, 1 Oak Ridge Drive, Chaska, with Pastor Margaret Booth officiating. The inurnment will take place at a later date in Annandale. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Simpson Shelter (c/o John Vodicka), 2100 Pillsbury Ave. South, Minneapolis, MN 55404.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Rebecca (Becky), and son-in-law Chris Atencio of New Orleans, Louisiana; grandchildren, Nick and Julia Atencio; brother, Kenneth; nieces, Kris Peterson and Kara Schlundt; four grand nieces and a grand nephew; and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Erla was born Nov. 13, 1945, in Annandale, to Bernhardt and Verna (Salmonsen) Kyllonen. She graduated from Annandale High School in 1963 and graduated from the University of Minnesota in three years with a major in math. She then earned her Master's in Education and was a longtime elementary educator in School District No. 112. She was very proud of her Finnish heritage and was known for her dry wit and unique way of describing events. She loved playing bridge, reading, crossword puzzles and Scrabble. She especially loved playing cards with her grandchildren and spending time with her many friends. She was very politically minded and was a former Teachers' Union president.
