David R. Hallberg
David R. Hallberg, 56, of Annandale, formerly of Cambridge, died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 19001 Jackson St. NE, East Bethel, with Rev. Dan Nordin officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Jessica and Chris Cook of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii and Christopher and Saroun Lyla Hallberg of Annandale; parents, Grant and Harriet Hallberg of Richfield and Ham Lake; siblings, Robert (Barb) Hallberg of Princeton, Karen (Walter "Skip") Fix of Prior Lake, and Dan (Jodie) Hallberg of Ham Lake; and his five adoring grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his son, Matthew.
David Robert Hallberg was born Sept. 8, 1957, in Minneapolis, to Grant and Harriet (Johnson) Hallberg. David grew up in Richfield where he graduated high school. While in high school, David and his brother, Rob, started Hallberg Refinishing in Ham Lake, which they operated until the early 1980s. David then worked as a body shop manager for ABRA. He then began his 28-year career as an insurance appraiser for various companies, including Crawford and Co. In 2010, David, retired from the Hartford Insurance Company. At the present time, David and his son, Chris, owned and operated Hallberg Auto and Sales in Buffalo which they started in 2012.
David had a strong passion for muscle cars and working on cars; he loved to restore items back to their original beauty. In his younger years, David enjoyed flying airplanes. He found enjoyment in motorcycle rides, where he would take in the beauty of what surrounded him. David was fond of boating, fishing, and relaxing by the fire. His greatest enjoyment in life was the time he was able to spend with his children and grandchildren.
