Donald B. Lind
Donald Benjamin Lind, 77, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at Annandale United Methodist Church, 250 Oak Ave, N., Annandale, on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 3 p.m. Family will receive friends and extended family after the service.
Donald is survived by his sisters Dolores Bergstrom of Sacred, Ruth Darlene (Jim) Hiniker of Mankato and his brother David (Linnea) of Baxter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents, brother Delbert and brother-in-law Louis Bergstrom.
Donald was born July 15, 1936, to Benjamin and Ruth (Wreath) Lind in Minneapolis. Donald graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis in June of 1954. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1959 with a degree in engineering. He worked for various firms. In 1969 Donald purchased the model railroad exhibit at the Minnesota State Fair and began operating the exhibit in 1970. He ran the exhibit with the help of his parents, aunt, siblings, nieces and nephews until 1985. Donald purchased the land for the "Minnesota and Western Railroad Museum" in 1969 and he worked on that project till the present.
Donald was known for his love of the steam railroads and his dogs that he had throughout his life.
