Myron 'Mike' T. Strecker
Myron "Mike" T. Strecker, 84, of Mission Viejo, Calif., formally of Annandale, passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013.
A celebration of Myron's life was held on Saturday, Sept. 14, at at Trabuco Canyon Community Church, Trabuco Canyon, Calif.
Survivors include his wife, Grace; brother, Darrell and his wife Sandy (of Annandale); sons, Eric and his wife Suzanne, Kirk and his wife Petra, Mark and his wife Melissa; daughter, Gayle and her husband Jim Moyer; grandchildren, Lily, Anders, Ellen, Linnea, Hannah, Emily, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Megan and William; great-grandchildren, Naomi, Isaac and Joshua.
He was born April 10, 1929, in South Haven to William Jacob Strecker and Edna Marie (Aronson) Strecker. Myron grew up and attended schools in Annandale graduating from Annandale High School in 1946. He then attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with his degree in civil engineering in 1954. Myron met and married the love of his life, Grace Elizabeth Jones on July 23, 1955, in Los Angeles, Calif. Together they celebrated over 58 years of marriage. Myron worked as an aerospace engineer for over 47 years in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, Calif. He worked with North American Aviation, North American Rockwell, Stressskin, Rockwell, and finally Boeing. He was a "Rocket Scientist" contributing significantly to the design of many planes and space vehicles, including the Saturn V Rocket (Apollo Mission to the Moon) and the Space Shuttle. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed gardening and simply tinkering around with things. Myron learned to love fishing in the Annandale area. There were numerous family vacations in the Eastern Sierra's Bridgeport area and trips to Annandale to visit Grandpa Bill and Grandma Edna Strecker and Uncle Darrell and his wife Sandy. Myron was a Christian. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale in 1942. He was most recently a member of Trabuco Canyon Community Church, Calif.
