Clifford A. Sundblad
Clifford A. Sundblad passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Buffalo Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 13, at North Crow River Lutheran Church, Cokato, with interment at the church cemetery
He is survived by his wife, Florence; son, Allen (Carla) Sundblad; step-daughter Madeleine (David) Heffely; step-son John (Marlenne) Higgins; grandchildren, Steven, Jonathan, Jennifer, Katherine and Philip; and great-grandchildren Conner and Parker.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Erma Sundblad; parents Alfred and Tilda (Danielson) Sundblad; daughter Sheila (Sundblad) Ryan; and grandson Jacob Sundblad.
Clifford Alden Sundblad was born on May 18, 1918, in Reeder, N.D., to Alfred and Tilda (Danielson) Sundblad. As a baby he moved to the family farm in Knapp. He was baptized and confirmed at North Crow River Lutheran Church in Knapp. Clifford attended Knapp country school and graduated from Cokato High School in 1936. In 1939 Clifford graduated from Dunwoody Technical College in Minneapolis. He was united in marriage to Erma (Thor) Sundblad on Dec. 28, 1952, in St Paul; she preceded him in death on July 4, 1986. Clifford then married Florence (Weaver-Higgins) Sundblad on March 17, 1991, in Tucson, Ariz. As a young man Clifford worked at the Green Giant canning factory in Cokato and worked as carpenter and was a member of the carpenters union in St Cloud for many years. Clifford also raised turkeys and had a dairy farm in French Lake. He was a current member of North Crow Lutheran church in Knapp and was on the church board for many years. Clifford liked to travel and would spend many winters in Tucson Ariz., where he would like to play horseshoes, shuffleboard and visit with his neighbors.
