Marlene A. Jensen
Marlene A. Jensen, 64, of Waseca, died on Friday, July 12, 2013, at the Lakeshore Inn Nursing Home following a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 16, at Grace Lutheran Church, Waseca, with Rev. Paige Whitney and Rev. Nancy Hansen officiating.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Dan of Waseca; sons, Michael Jensen and his wife Melissa of Hastings, and Matt Jensen and his wife Amy Littel of Sioux Falls, S.D.; grandchildren, Thomas and Anna Jensen and Emma and Curran Littel-Jensen; and sister, Lori Carter and her husband Dr. Ken Carter of Granite Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her aunt, Louise Tammen.
Born in St. Cloud on April 19, 1949, Marlene was the daughter of Carl and Helen (Tammen) Folkerts. Growing up she attended school in Annandale, and later earned her degree from St. Cloud State University. On Nov. 28, 1970, Marlene married her high school sweetheart, Dan Jensen. Together they lived and worked in Benson from 1972 until 1981 when they moved to Waseca. Marlene worked as a speech clinician for almost 35 years. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also volunteered at Hansel & Gretel Preschool, for the Lutheran Brotherhood, and played in the Grace Lutheran Bell Choir and served on the Grace Lutheran Church Council. Recently Marlene was attending North Waseca Lutheran Church. She will be fondly remembered by many friends in both congregations.
