Robert 'Bob' L. Young
Robert "Bob" Lee Young, 65, of Waite Park, formerly of Annandale, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at the VA Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.
Bob is survived by his wife Sherry of Waite Park, MN; daughter Angie of Eden Prairie, MN; mother Doris of Cokato; sister Maureen (Ralph) Wessman of Cokato; brothers Mark (Rebecca) of Tempe, AZ, Bradley (Beth) of Cokato, Delmond (Kathy) of Cokato; many nieces and nephews and many friends.
Bob is preceded in death by his father Donald and son Jason.
Bob was born on Feb. 28, 1948, in Hutchinson to Donald and Doris (Lind) Young of Cokato. He is the youngest of five children. Bob graduated from Cokato High School in 1966 and enlisted in the U.S. Army that same year. He served in the U.S. Army for three years, serving in Vietnam and spending time in Germany. He returned from Vietnam on Sept. 14, 1968. On Sept. 21, 1968 he married his high school sweetheart Sherry Hatrick, in Dassel. For the next year, Bob was stationed on the Fort Meade Army base in Fort George Meade, Md. In 1969, Bob was discharged from the army and he and Sherry returned to Minnesota. They managed Red's Pizza in Howard Lake. He later went to work for the Norseman Restaurant in Cokato. They had two children Jason Robert and Angela Marie. In 1977, Bob went to work for Minnegasco (now CenterPoint Energy) as a service technician. In February 2008, Bob suffered a mild stroke which caused him to retire in Oct. 2008. In May 2009, Bob and Sherry moved to West Virginia to retire. In April 2012, after three years in West Virginia, they moved back to Minnesota. Bob and Sherry joined the Annandale United Methodist Church on June 19, 2005.
