Marvin Vollrath
Obituary

Marvin Vollrath, 78, of New Ulm and formerly of New Germany died Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, South Chapel, New Ulm. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, South Chapel, New Ulm. Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Hollywood Township, Carver County.

Marvin is survived by children, Elizabeth Vollrath, Paula Abraham, and Marvin Vollrath, Jr.; step-children, Mike Radke, Tom Radke, Teresa Gregory, Amy Radke, and Michelle Deuhs; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Rueben, Howard, Edward, and Norman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Odella; brothers, Raymond and Elmer, and a sister, Ruth. 

Marvin was born May 5, 1934, in New Germany to Adolph and Johanna (Speigner) Vollrath. He was a Korean War veteran serving with the Marine Corps from 1954-1956. After being honorably discharged Marvin move back to the New Germany area. He worked at Super Valu in Hopkins for over 35 years retiring in the early 1990s. Marvin loved gardening, especially growing tomatoes, fishing and listening to baseball especially the Twins, on the radio.
